The Kansas City Chiefs player reportedly spent millions on a new home decorated with a swimming pool, waterfall, and mini golf course amid rumours he’s dating Taylor Swift. Kelce, 34, and the “Anti-Hero” artist, 33, have been leaving a trail of crumbs alluding to their newfound romance, ever since Swift showed up to the NFL tight end’s home game on 24 September.
If the Grammy winner’s most recent attendance at Arrowhead Stadium on 12 October wasn’t enough, the rumoured duo was spotted all over New York City this past weekend, reportedly locking lips at the Saturday Night Live after-party and dining out.
Now, according to a TMZ report, Kelce allegedly took their relationship to the next level when he signed for a new property on Tuesday. Though it’s not confirmed, the star athlete’s decision to move into a luxury, private pad is for the benefit of his rumoured girlfriend, as sources claimed Kelce’s quest for a new space began recently.
The $6m home is located inside a gated community, only allowing access to residents and their guests. Kelce reportedly made the decision to switch homes after noticing how accessible and public his last space was.
Previously, the football legend was residing in a seven-bedroom space in Briarcliff West – a lush Kansas City neighborhood – which he bought for $995,000 in 2019. In addition, Kelce spent $355,000 on a property in Orlando, Florida, that same year.
While this expense is seemingly a drop in the bucket for the athlete, who signed a four-year contract with the Chiefs in 2020 worth an estimated $57m, his recent comments about the attention he’s received from being connected to Swift offers potential reasoning for the address switch.
Last month, Kelce spoke to his brother Jason, 35, on their eponymous New Heights podcast about how his link to the Eras Tour star has led to an increased presence in the spotlight. “We’ve been avoiding this subject out of respect for your personal life - now we’ve got to talk about it,” Jason told his brother on the podcast.
“My personal life that is not so personal,” Kelce joked in response. “I did this to myself, Jason, I know this.”
However, it doesn’t seem as though Kelce is too torn up about it, as he and Swift were seen being touchy-feely with each other during the SNL after-party at Catch on Saturday. One source speaking to Entertainment Tonight confessed to seeing them kiss multiple times throughout the night, and even witnessed Kelce tell Swift’s security personnel he’d “take over” for him.
“They were holding hands throughout the night, whispering into each other’s ear, and they even exchanged some kisses,” the insider said. “At one point, he actually told her security guard that he could step aside, like he’d take it from here.”
Footage from before the party showed Kelce lightly tapping the “Fifteen” vocalist’s bodyguard out of the way to open the car door for her. After the video surfaced, many viewers quipped that the athlete “pushed” the security guard. However, Kelce clarified their interaction on a recent episode of New Heights.
“I didn’t push him,” he told Jason. “I placed my hand on the gentleman’s back to let him know I was behind him. If I would have pushed him, he probably would have turned around and tased me.”
