Mary Queen of Scots House: Queen Street, Jedburgh, TD8 6EN (01835 863331). The tower house where she was kept under arrest by Queen Elizabeth I. Mon-Sat from 10am with last admission at 4.45pm; Sun Iast admission 4.30pm. Adults pounds 2; concs pounds 1.
Lloyd George Museum: Llanystumdwy, Criccieth, Gwynedd LL52 OSH (01766 522071). An exhibition of the former prime minister's cloaks, walking sticks and monogrammed hairbrushes. Mon-Fri 10.30am-5pm, April to September. Open weekends from July. Adults pounds 2.50; concs pounds 1.50.
The Grace Darling Museum: Radcliffe Road, Bamburgh NE69 7AE (01668 214 465). This is a shrine to the woman and her legendary sea rescue. Daily, 11am-6pm. Free, with donation box for the RNLI.
