There's a strange and enticing buzz around the capital's top clubs. Promoters are breathing new life into old venues on both sides of the river. Legends is one of those clubs that seems to have been around for ages. Bad memories of 1980s-style chrome and mirrors are thankfully gone. Revamped and rejuvenated, Legends is currently home to the capital's sharpest Friday night.
Since its opening seven weeks ago, Fur Coat, No Knickers has earned a formidable reputation for no-nonsense Friday night revelry on a grand scale.
"The basic idea is fun," explains promoter Danielle Frostrup. "It's a place where people don't feel inhibited. We keep the music versatile to create a comfortable atmosphere." It's a formula that has punters queuing down to Regent Street every weekend.
Paul Gardner, Smokin Jo and Cipriani, serve up a heady mixture of house anthems and uplifting beats. Fur Coat has that vibe missing from so many clubs. Chill in the bar or get gritty downstairs in the basement, it's all good.
EYE ON THE NEW
Promoter Nick House has waved his magic wand up north, bringing some good old-fashioned debauchery to Leeds. Featuring Miss Money Penny's John Kelly in the DJ booth, `Directors' should supply enough sparkle to rival the Northern Lights.
