Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Old Town Central was relaunched by the Hong Kong Tourism Board last year. It is an area that brings together unique tourism hotspots in Central and Sheung Wan.

To give visitors a unique perspective when exploring this area, five themed walking routes have been designed, highlighting historical architecture and landmarks, arts and culture, dining outlets and lifestyle boutiques.

And they must watch out for tucked away street art and graffiti in some of the streets and alleys particularly around Hollywood Road.

HKTB Chairman Dr Peter Lam said: “Each district in Hong Kong has its unique culture and characteristics, and Central is an important landmark in the development of Hong Kong history.

“It is a place where East and West, past and present co-exist and collide. ‘Old Town Central’ is an evergreen promotion programme and new elements will be added to it in the future.”

The Old Town Central programme covers a neighbourhood bounded by Wyndham Street to the east, Caine Road to the south, Possession Street to the west and Queen’s Road Central to the north, with Hollywood Road – one of the first roads built in the city – spanning through it.

Old Town Central is also home to the Man Mo Temple, which was built in 1847 to pay tribute to the God of Literature (Man) and the God of War (Mo). Both worshipped in Imperial China, they were patrons of scholars and students who wish to excel in their studies or gain top ranking in the civil exams.

Watch out for QR Codes around different spots such as PMQ, Man Mo Temple, YMCA Bridges Street Centre, Lan Kwai Fong to provide information about Old Town Central and recommended routes.
