On Friday, Banana Republic announced it would be bringing back Justice Ginsburg’s black “Dissent Collar” for a limited time, this time with the name “The Notorious Necklace.”
“Reissued from 2012, back again for a limited time,” the clothing company said on Instagram. “You asked, we answered. The notorious necklace, as worn by the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg, is coming back with a limited reissue.

The company also said it would be donating 100 per cent of the proceeds from the sales of the $98 collar to the International Center for Research on Women (ICRW) because “we continue to support women’s equality worldwide.”
The collar, which features a velvet tie and sparkling glass stones, first got its name in 2014, when Justice Ginsburg revealed during an interview with Katie Couric that she called the accessory her “dissenting collar”.
“This is my dissenting collar. It looks fitting for dissent,” Ginsburg said at the time.
“Banana Republic feels this is an opportunity to benefit the advancement of women’s rights as a continuation of the brand’s commitment to champion equality,” the company said in a statement to Fashionista regarding the necklace’s return.
On social media, the return of the statement piece was met with excitement, with many people revealing they’ve already purchased the limited-edition piece.
“Got mine!! Thank you,” one person wrote, while another praised the company for donating all of the necklace’s proceeds.
The collar was one of many worn by the Supreme Court justice, who explained her affinity for the accessories in 2009 in an interview with The Washington Post.
"You know, the standard robe is made for a man because it has a place for the shirt to show, and the tie. So Sandra Day O'Connor and I thought it would be appropriate if we included as part of our robe something typical of a woman," Justice Ginsburg told the outlet. "So I have many, many collars."
