From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Princess Eugenie has returned to social media after a two-month break.

On Wednesday, the royal posted a photo commemorating the two-year anniversary of her engagement to now-husband Jack Brooksbank.

“On this day two years ago…Jack and I announced we were engaged,” she captioned the image, which showed the couple smiling in the Picture Gallery at Buckingham Palace.

The princess is pictured wearing a floral mini dress designed by Erdem, which she first showcased in 2016 for a photo shoot with Harper’s Bazaar.

The image quickly garnered more than 130,000 likes on Instagram with fans taking to the comments section to welcome Eugenie back to social media.

“Welcome back to Instagram. I hope you and Jack are doing well. You are an amazing person, philanthropist and princess,” one person wrote.

Another commented: “So sweet. Good to see you on here again. You’ve been missed!”

A third person added: “Lovely couple, lovely day. Wishing you two all the happiness in the world.”

The couple tied the knot on 12 October 2018 at St Georges Chapel, the same location where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were married five months before.

Princess Eugenie wore an ivory wedding gown, which was designed by Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos and featured a low back to reveal the scars she acquired after having an operation at 12 years old to correct her scoliosis.

While Eugenie has previously been an avid user of the social media platform, the photo marks the first post she has shared since her father, Prince Andrew, formally stepped back from royal duties.

This was following his interview with BBC Newsnight regarding his ties to Jeffrey Epstein in November.

At the time, Prince Andrew issued a statement saying: “It has become clear to me over the last few days that the circumstances relating to my former association with Jeffrey Epstein has become a major disruption to my family’s work and the valuable work going on in the many organisations and charities that I am proud to support.

“Therefore, I have asked Her Majesty if I may step back from public duties for the foreseeable future, and she has given her permission.”
