At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Earlier this week, British Vogue revealed that the September issue of the magazine guest-edited by Meghan was the fastest-selling in the publication’s history.
The “Forces for Change” issue saw notable individuals including environmental campaigner Greta Thunberg, former US first lady Michelle Obama and model Adwoa Aboah featured on the cover, with the aim of representing women “from all walks of life, each driving impact and raising the bar for equality, kindness, justice and open-mindedness”.
The fashion magazine released a behind-the-scenes video online of Meghan and Enninful discussing the issue together, ringing several of the women featured on the cover and blowing on party horns while wearing festive headpieces.
On Friday, Enninful and British Vogue shared an unseen picture from the pair’s meeting on Instagram, capturing the duchess and editor-in-chief wearing sparkly red and silver hats with matching veils.
Several people praised the partnership between Meghan and British Vogue.
“What a wonderful moment caught on camera,” one Instagram user wrote.
“The smiles I needed to see,” another said. “Congrats to @vogue and @sussexroyal for such a phenomenal collaboration.”
In addition to 15 well-known female figures, the “Forces for Change” issue also featured a 16th mirrored space on the cover.
The aim of the mirror was to include the reader among the group, “so that when you hold the issue in your hands, you see yourself as part of this collective”.
The behind-the-scenes video featuring Meghan and Enninful was filmed in London last August.
In the video, the duchess questions whether anyone has ever guest-edited British Vogue before.
“No. In the history of Vogue, you’re the first. You have an editor’s eye. I mean, I’ve never seen anything like it,” Enninful says in response.
“You were so thorough from beginning to end.”
The British Vogue editor-in-chief stated on Instagram that the “Forces for Change” issue was the “fastest-selling issue in the history of British Vogue (sold out in 10 days) and the biggest-selling issue of the past decade”.
