From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have launched a YouTube channel.

In a tweet, shared on Wednesday, William and Kate said: “We’re now on Youtube” and added a link for followers to subscribe.

They shared a teaser clip of themselves completing royal duties with some behind the scenes clips.

The video reel includes highlights from the past year with the couple and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis clapping on their doorstep during the Clap for Carers event.

There are two behind the scenes bloopers with William telling Kate in one shot: “By the way you have to be careful what you say now because these guys they’re filming everything,” to which Kate replies: “I know”.

In another video, filmed for St Patrick’s Day, she tells her husband: “You don’t need to roll your ‘r’”.

Elsewhere the duke and duchess share clips of William flying a helicopter and meeting David Attenborough, and Kate helping on a farm. The pair also appear on the red carpet at an awards ceremony and mixing cocktails behind a bar.

The video has been watched over 8,000 times in the first 20 minutes and has 10.8k subscribers.

It comes just 24 hours after the duchess of Sussex announced the launch of her first book, a children’s book The Bench.

The project was based on a poem Meghan Markle says she wrote for her husband Prince Harry for his first Father’s Day following the birth of Prince Archie in 2019.

She said: “That poem became this story. Christian [the illustrator] layered in beautiful and ethereal watercolor illustrations that capture the warmth, joy, and comfort of the relationship between fathers and sons from all walks of life; this representation was particularly important to me.”
