Ready to wear: In the lines of vision
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Pinstripe is a real classic, which may be another word for boring in some instances, but not this one. A tailored pinstripe coat-dress is one of the sexiest things a woman can wear - forget all that obvious stockings stuff. Although the general silhouette this season has a harder edge (Eighties, shoulder pads), you don't have to go mad with it. In the Eighties, wearing a basque or coloured bra under a pinstripe suit was a popular thing to do (supposed to be sexy, mixing underwear with "office" gear). I fear this is coming back, which is a shame because I always thought it was a particularly nasty habit. High heels are the thing to wear with your pinstripe suit, but avoid shirts and ties as that would be ridiculous. Pinstripe - especially when the base colour is black - can look spectacularly cheap, so watch out. I'd go for a very dark grey base, much classier.
