In December 2018, Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra tied the knot in an unforgettable wedding ceremony that featured several dresses, a host of celebrity guests and multiple parties.

But, aside from all the frills that came along with the nuptials, other big news was that the 36-year-old actor decided to adopt a double-barrel surname.

Shortly after their wedding, Chopra officially changed her name across each of her social media accounts to Priyanka Chopra Jonas, while her husband kept his the same.

Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, the newlywed said: “The gravity of it, it’s like a big deal! I didn’t realise it was that much of a big deal until I did it.

She also revealed the reason the name change was so important to her, adding: “I always wanted to add his name to mine because I feel, like, you know, we’re becoming family, and I’m a little traditional and old school like that.

“But I don’t take away my identity. He gets added to who I am.”

The Jungle Book star also revealed she initially didn’t want to have a big wedding.

“I wanted to get married on some private island, away from everything, and we were really stressed out about it,” she said.

“We thought Seychelles, Maldives, Mauritius, but nothing was working out.”

Then, while the couple were on a trip to Mumbai, Jonas suggested the ceremony could take place in her home country.

“Nick said: ‘Why aren’t we doing this in India? Shouldn’t I be taking my bride from her home?'” she recalled.

While the couple have openly shared a number of heartwarming photos together since tying the knot, Chopra Jonas admitted not everything has been easy.

The actor described married life as “very different”, explaining that they now share their homes in New York and Los Angeles.

“Nothing works in my house because I’m never in my house. So the coffee machine doesn’t work, the air conditioning makes some sounds. It’s cute, my house is beautiful, but nothing works,” she explained.

“And everything in Nick’s house is immaculate. Like his alarms work. My alarms never work! My doorbell doesn’t work.”

Chopra Jonas said this became a problem when she took her pet dog, Diana, to Jonas’s home for the first time.

”My dog peed on his carpet the first day, and it’s a white carpet too!” Chopra admitted.

“Before he came home, I can’t tell you, I went through everything, cleaners, baking soda, scrubbing serious elbow grease, got it out, but he still noticed. He was like, ‘Was that Diana?’"
