The Duke of Sussex has said he "can't wait" to introduce the Duchess of Sussex and their son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, to South Africa as the trio embark on their first official tour as a family.

In June, it was announced that Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their son are due to travel to Southern Africa in autumn as part of a royal tour.

It was revealed that the Sussexes will visit South Africa together, with Prince Harry carrying out visits to Malawi, Angola and Botswana.

In a new post shared on the duke and duchess' official Instagram account, Prince Harry shared his excitement over their upcoming trip.

"In just a few weeks our family will be taking its first official tour to Africa, a region of the world that over the past two decades has been a second home to me," the duke wrote in the Instagram caption.

"Our team has helped create a meaningful programme that we're so exited to share with you.

"On a personal note, I can't wait to introduce my wife and son to South Africa! We'll see all of you very soon," Prince Harry's message concluded.

Several Instagram users expressed their admiration for the duke's sentiments.

"How lovely for the duke to put a personal note. We can't wait to see the entire family," one person commented.

"My wife and my son. Cutest thing I have read all morning. So happy for you Harry," another remarked.

In addition to Prince Harry's personal note, the Instagram post also included pictures of and links to several Instagram accounts as part of the duke and duchess' "monthly social awareness approach" on the social media platform.

"As a lead up to the tour, for the month of September, we wish to celebrate the beauty of this wonderful continent as a whole: from local organisations working hard to better the environment, to the young leaders paving the way for a better future for the Commonwealth and beyond," the caption read.

"These selected groups are a small representation of the incredible work being done in Africa today from countless people, local communities and organisations."

The Instagram accounts featured in the post include wildlife organisation African Parks; humanitarian landmine clearance organisation The Halo Trust and the Giraffe Conservation Foundation.
