From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Following a dramatic reduction in price the Logitech Revue set top box with Google TV was the most popular product-related Google search term over the last seven days.

Google TV itself is an open source platform running on Android and the Linux version of Chrome and combines internet TV and web TV sites with existing channels, thereby giving the user an on-demand and interactive service; Apple also produces a similar system.

The Logitech Revue, only available in the USA, is not a TV but a set-top box that allows the user's existing HD TV to run Google TV.

At the end of July Logitech announced that it was dropping the price of the Logitech Revue from $250 to $99. Several media outlets, including the LA Times and Consumerreports.org, reported that this was because more Revue boxes were being returned by consumers than sold and kept.

Following this decline in price, on July 27 searches for the term "Logitech Revue" grew by 750 percent, making it the most searched for product-related term over the seven days prior to August 3, according to data from Google Insights.

American retail outlet Best Buy, which stocks the Logitech Revue, was also a popular search term, experiencing a growth of 60 percent over the last seven days.

Puzzle game Portal 2 and Nintendo's handheld gaming device the 3DS were also popular search terms over the last week.

The search terms with the most significant growth worldwide in the last seven days, in the category Products as  measured by Google Insights, recorded on August 3 were:

1.       Logitech revue (+750%)
2.       bestbuy.com (+60%)
3.       portal 2 (+60%)
4.       3ds (+40%)
5.       Nintendo 3ds (+40%)
6.       Walmart (+40%)
