Oprah Winfrey has unveiled her highly anticipated annual gift guide of “Favourite Things,” with this year’s list highlighting Black-owned or -led businesses.

In its 24th year, Oprah’s 2020 list includes both affordable and pricey suggestions for everything from tech gifts to presents perfect for foodies or pets in your life.

And, just like years past, the former talk show host’s roundup of favourite things wouldn’t be complete without a few unique options, with this year’s list featuring gifts such as a log-holding bag to a set of gold chocolate bars.

However, as Winfrey noted, this year’s list varies slightly as it features one significant change - most of the options are from Black-owned or -led businesses.

“Because so many people want to support Black lives any way they can, we’ve found dozens of absolutely gorgeous gifts from Black-owned businesses that deserve to be celebrated, because we believe Black lives - and Black businesses - matter,” Winfrey wrote. “So for 2020, most of my Favourite Things are from Black-owned or -led companies.

“I hope everything on this list brings you and your loved ones surprise and delight. Happy holidays - and happy shopping!”

These are some of the most interesting options on this year’s list.

In the section for foodies, Winfrey mostly included suggestions you’d expect, such as an olive oil gift set and a set of honey. However, one option stands out - a $36 Peach Butta Cobbler Pie sold by Lush Yummies Pie Co.

According to its Amazon description, the Detroit-based company creates the pie using fresh peaches, spices and flaky pie dough.

For gifts for the family, Winfrey seemingly took into consideration the coronavirus pandemic with her suggestion of a $250 emergency preparedness bin.

Available in small, extra large or full size, the bright orange container is “stocked with everything you need for any situation,” according to Amazon.

In addition to first aid supplies, the extra large kit for four comes with a flashlight, phone charger, water pouches, matches, hand warmers and other essentials you could need “for up to 72 hours of self-sufficiency”.

Presents for the home include a stack of nesting baskets, as well as the aforementioned $165 Mi Cocina Ubi-Ind The Log Bag, which will make it easier to transport and keep logs stacked for anyone with a fireplace.

As people continue to spend more time at home amid the pandemic, Winfrey also has latte-lovers covered with a $800 Breville espresso machine.

While it may seem pricey, the coffee maker features a “screen that provides you all the precise information you need to make coffee exactly the way you like it, every time,” according to Amazon.

Winfrey also prioritised cosy this year, with gifts such as slippers, giant tie dye hoodies and turtleneck lounge outfits all making the list.

You can find the full list of Winfrey’s Favourite Things, which are all available on Amazon, here or in the December issue of O, The Oprah Magazine, on newsstands 17 November.
