Olivia Colman revealed that she got a “little bit boozy” during the Golden Globes because she didn’t expect to win and have to make a speech.

While accepting the award for best actress in a drama series, The Crown actress said: “I said I had money on this not happening.

"For the last year I felt like I’ve been living someone else’s life and now I feel like I’ve definitely won someone else’s award.”

After thanking Netflix and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the actress admitted that she didn’t know what to say because “I genuinely got a little bit boozy because I thought this wasn’t going to happen”.

“So, thank you,” Colman continued to laughter from the crowd. “Completely stumped.”

The actress’s relatable admission was met with support from both the crowd and viewers, who praised her for her honesty.

“Please give me show where, every week, they give Olivia Colman an award. And then she gives a speech,” one person tweeted.

Another said: “I don’t make the rules but Olivia Colman is the most relatable human being on the planet.”

“Olivia Colman assuming she wasn’t going to win, getting too drunk, and then winning is such a mood,” someone else said.

During her speech, Colman also applauded Fleabag for winning best television series.

Fleabag, yay!” Colman told the crowd.

In an interview after her win, Colman said she had thought that her night would end early with a "cup of tea" in the hotel room.

Instead she said after her individual win, and that of her Fleabag co-stars, the night would be "getting more boozy".
