Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Strictly Gershwin is a dazzling celebration of George Gershwin and the sparkling age of Hollywood music and dance. Gershwin’s sassy tunes, most famously Rhapsody in Blue, An American in Paris, Someone to Watch over Me, The Man I Love, Shall We Dance, I Got Rhythm and Strike up the Band combine with Derek Deane’s sensational choreography to conjure up the silver screen genius of Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers and Gene Kelly.
With over 100 dancers and musicians filling the stage, glitzy cinematic images set the scene for English National Ballet’s fabulous dance spectacular. This glittering in-the-round production recreates the razzmatazz of the big band era and Hollywood musicals, featuring a journey in dance from ballroom to jazz, building to a breathtaking balletic finale.
Strictly Gershwin will be accompanied by a live jazz orchestra in a nostalgic return to the famous big band sound of the forties with a guest star appearance from Olivier-award-winning singer Maria Friedman.
