Nicki Minaj has opened up about giving birth to her son while revealing that she finds breastfeeding “painful”.

The rapper, who gave birth to her and husband Kenneth Petty’s first child in September, shared details about her birthing experience in a Twitter question-and-answer on Wednesday.

According to the 38-year-old, the moment she went into labour she was “weirdly calm,” while Petty was “very scared”.

“I was butt naked. Just got out of the shower and I asked him to rub my back. As soon as I started scooting over to him in the bed I just felt the water start coming out,” Minaj recalled. “I was weirdly calm and I quietly said: ‘omg, I’m about to be in labour.’ He was very scared & I was laughing at him.”

In response to another question from a fan, the Anaconda singer revealed that she had a vaginal birth with an epidural, which she assured her more than 21.7m followers didn’t hurt, and had to push for two-and-a-half hours before her son was born.

During the Q&A, Minaj also shared her experience breastfeeding her son for the first time, telling a follower that the infant, whose name has not been revealed, had “no problem breastfeeding”.

“He latched on in the hospital which was very surprising to me. I was afraid maybe he wouldn’t,” she said, before revealing that she found breastfeeding “very painful”.

“Pumping is too. Women make this stuff look way too easy. Moms are really superheroes,” she added.

The rapper’s Q&A coincided with her son turning three months old, with the new mother sharing photos from her pregnancy on Instagram in celebration.

“Happy three months Bday #PapaBear Mommy & Daddy love you soooo much. You’re the best boy in the whole wide world,” Minaj captioned a photo of herself standing next to an oversized ice cream cone.

Minaj first announced she was pregnant in June, when she shared photos of herself cradling her pregnant stomach to Instagram with the caption #preggers.
