From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Although there are plenty of undeniably cool electric cars and thought-provoking concepts on display at the Paris Motor Show this week, the event has also introduced some exciting new production models to the public.

Ford's stand is centered on the Focus, with the US brand displaying the new high-performance Focus ST and the five-door hatchback and wagon versions that are due to launch in 2011.

Citroen announced the new Citroen DS4, a redesigned C4, a new DS3 model and upgrades to the C4 Picasso and Grand C4 Picasso ranges, all of which are on display at its stand.

Mazda is showing off the new Mazda2 with a tweaked diesel engine capable of 4.2l/100km and emissions of 110g/km, and Volkswagen is unveiling the seventh generation Passat, which has been treated to a significant facelift and equipment upgrade.

Fellow German brand Audi, meanwhile, is showcasing the new A1, which features a 1.4 litre "dual-charged" engine that uses both a supercharger and turbocharger, a first for Audi vehicles.

Another debut creating a lot of buzz has been the Range Rover Evoque, billed as the smallest, lightest, most fuel-efficient Range Rover ever, which will go on sale in 160 countries worldwide from next summer.

If Range Rover isn't to your taste, there are a host of other new MPVs and SUVs to choose from, including the Chevrolet Orlando, the Chevrolet Captiva and the Toyota Verso-S.

The Paris Motor Show runs October 2-17.
