Your support makes all the difference.Volkswagen has released the first images of its new city car, set to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September.
The German brand, Europe's most popular automaker, confirmed August 21 that the tiny "up!" model will debut in September ahead of a European launch in December 2011.
Designed for cities, it will be available in three versions with varying trim levels ("take up!", "move up!" and "high up!") and uses a three-cylinder gasoline engine, although Volkswagen has also confirmed that it plans to offer an electric-drive version.
At 3.54 meters in length and 1.64 meters in width, Volkswagen says the up! is one of the smallest four-seater vehicles, although it claims the internal space in the three-door model will be 'exceptionally good'.
The external paint color will be reflected inside the cabin and on a striking dashboard fascia, with the brand promising clever details and fun styling, although more comprehensive information won't be released until September.
What has been confirmed is a new maps + more infotainment system, which features a detachable device mounted on the center console which displays navigation, telephone, information and entertainment functionality on one screen.
Like competing systems from Ford and Toyota, maps + more will be expandable by installing extra apps to meet drivers' specific needs.
The car will be on show at the Frankfurt International Motor Show, which runs September 15-25 in Frankfurt, Germany.
