From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

A US version of hit motoring show Top Gear will air next fall, the BBC and The History Channel confirmed April 21.

The US version of the show will be shown on The History Channel and is to maintain its successful magazine format, which is a mixture of car reviews, debates and challenges from the three male hosts.

The US version will be fronted by Tanner Foust, Adam Ferrara and Rutledge Wood. Foust is a renowned stunt driver, while Ferrara is known as a standup comedian and Wood as a trackside reporter for NASCAR, the most popular specatator sport in the US.

Top Gear is one of the most successful programs ever produced by the BBC and is screened in over 100 countries.

Despite attracting criticism for chauvinism and unnecessary risk-taking, the show is estimated to have a fan base of 350 million people and producers claim that it is the world's most pirated television program.

It has already spawned a spin-off in Australia with local presenters Warren Brown, Steve Pizzati and James Morrison. The original version of the show is currently presented by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, and also features a test driver known as The Stig.
