Amongst the big boys of the show, some smaller manufacturers have been unveiling new production cars that prove that the luxury is back in vogue.
Geneva is known as the show where the rich can splash their cash, and despite the world having just exited the worst recession for decades, it seems that there is no sign of the tradition ending.
Spanish-rooted Hispano Suiza launched its new supercar, named simply the Hispano Suiza, priced around €700,000. With an all-wheel drive inside a carbon-fibre frame, the hybrid model can hit 330km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. The firm says that it plans to make around 20 annually.
Luxury Malaysian brand Bufori wowed the audience with its new luxury sedan, named "Geneva," saying that it is likely to sell around 40 during the year when production starts in June. The Geneva is tailor-made for each client, with an endless selection of color and fabric options and additions such as fine tea sets, Espresso Coffee machines, ice boxes, cool boxes, cigar humidors and strong boxes on offer. The 6.1 liter V8, made of carbon fibre and Kevlar, can do 0-100 km/h in under six seconds.
Car enthusiast favorite Koenigsegg also released a new model, the new Agera. Although pricing is unconfirmed, it is likely to be astronomical - the Swedish manufacturer already has three models in the Forbes list of world's most expensive cars. With a reported top speed of 245 mph (394 km/h), it's also likely to be one of the fastest when it enters production this summer.
For fans dedicated to tuning, Brabus and Carlsson were on hand with their latest optimized models. Brabus's E V12 coupe, billed as the world's fastest Gran Tourismo, will retail for €478,000 and tops out at over 370 km/h. Fellow German tuner Carlsson unveiled its limited-edition Super-GT C25, capable of 352 km/h and retails at a reported €429,000.
