From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Two exclusive supercars have been unveiled by their creators ahead of official debuts at the Dubai International Motor Show, which opens to the public tomorrow, December 16.

Tuning firm Brabus this week displayed its souped-up Mercedes GLK V12, which has set a new world record for the fastest legal SUV on the road. The exclusive model is powered by a twelve-cylinder twin turbo engine delivering 750hp that gives the GLK an incredible top speed of 200.3 mph (322km/h). Brabus engineers completely engineered the standard GLK engine for the job, increasing the size from 5.5 liters to 6.3 liters and adding a twin turbo system with larger turbochargers and more efficient intercoolers. All this work doesn't come cheap - the model on show in Dubai could retail at anything from €397,000.

Meanwhile, Kepler Motors has also released details of the Motion Supercar on the show Press Day, December 15. The Motion is a hybrid supercar powered by a 550 hp 3.5 liter engine at the rear and a 250 hp electric motor at the front. Working together, the engines will deliver a top speed of over 200 mph (321 km/h) with a 0-60 mph (0-97km/h) time of under 2.5 seconds. Pricing has not been confirmed, but Kepler says that only 50 models will be produced with deliveries beginning in 2011.

The Dubai International Motor Show traditionally showcases luxury and high performance car models and this year seems to be no exception despite the region's recent financial problems. Other luxury manufactures expected to be present include Aston Martin, Bentley, Bugatti, Ferrari, Maserati, Rolls-Royce and Westfield.
