Japanese brands Subaru and Suzuki have both announced plans for world debuts of new production models at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Suzuki said August 10 that the new version of the Swift Sport, a sporty compact, was to be unveiled at the show after receiving its first full model change since the vehicle's introduction in 2006.

The model has been given a more aggressive style, with an enlarged front grill and a low-slung form designed to give "a sense of stability and tension."

The model is to be offered next year with a 1.6-liter engine connected to a six-speed manual transmission - Suzuki also promises better handling thanks to new struts and a rear-suspension design.

Subaru, for its part, intends to debut the all-new Suburu XV European specification, a new crossover first shown as a concept model at the Auto Shanghai motor show in April.

The automaker says that the final production version of the XV remains true to the concept, which was based on the brand's popular Impreza and won considerable attention following its first debut.

The Frankfurt Motor Show runs September 13-25 in Frankfurt, Germany.
