Your support makes all the difference.British order books are now open for Volvo’s latest-generation V90 estate. Prices range from £34,555-£44,055, and first UK deliveries of the car – which was revealed at the recent Geneva Motor Show – will be made in October.
The newcomer is slightly larger than its S90 saloon stablemate, giving it a 1,526-litre luggage bay. However, much of the rest of the load-lugger is shared with the saloon, including its dashboard design and controls. Among the safety and infotainment kit is the IntelliSafe Assist system, with adaptive cruise control and semi-autonomous Pilot Assist II with distance alert, lane keeping, road-sign recognition and ‘run-off road’ sensor. Optional IntelliSafe Surround adds blind-spot assistance, rear-collision warning and cross-traffic alert.
The V90’s broad engine line-up incorporates petrol, diesel and hybrid power. The conventional internal-combustion units are all four-cylinders, with the 187bhp 2.0-litre D4 diesel expected to be the biggest seller.
Pumping out 295lb ft of torque, it’s claimed to return 62.7mpg and 119g/km of CO2. As with the other units, it’ll be paired with an eight-speed auto gearbox.
The T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid teams up an 87bhp electric motor with a 2.0-litre turbodiesel to produce 401bhp and 472lb ft of torque. Emissions are only 47g/km and economy is a claimed 134.5mpg.
