Kahn unveils luxury one-off Land Rover Defender with £65,000 price tag

That’s certainly the message coming through loud and clear from Land Rover’s phasing out of the old-school Defender. Used values are through the roof.
Filling the demand gap in the smallest possible way is this modified Land Rover London Motor Show Edition Defender 90 by Kahn Design.
Restyled inside and out, it’s about as exclusive as it gets, with just one being built. Outside there are chunky new wings, body-coloured arches, 20in wheels, a new front bumper, grille and hood vents. Inside you get new sports seats with a stripey fabric motif that’s echoed on the glove box, dashboard and other interior panels, a posher clock, upgraded sat-nav, aluminium pedals, a reversing camera and a billet steel and leather steering wheel.
Mechanically it comes with a four-speed automatic gearbox hooked up to the standard LR 2.2-litre diesel engine, albeit with a 10% hike in power and torque courtesy of a new exhaust system and a remap. If you need more power, Kahn will replace the diesel with a rather more meaty 6.2-litre V8 as featured already in Kahn's Flying Huntsman pick-up.
Proving that exclusivity never comes cheap, the LMS Edition wears a distinctly non-retro price tag of £65,000. Even so, Kahn is unlikely to have too much difficulty finding a buyer for his one-off.
Alhough his company is now looking at the Jeep Wrangler as a replacement partner model for his design house, Kahn will continue to offer a bespoke Defender modification service.
