Google and Ford 'working together on driverless car'

Speculation is growing that Ford and Google are working together to produce a driverless car.

The internet leviathan announced in 2013 that it is developing technology to let vehicles operate autonomously.

But manufacturing any kind of car is a very different matter – and that’s where the blue oval will come in.

Ford for its part would gain hugely from access to Google’s software technology.

Neither company is willing to confirm the rumours, but Google has admitted in the past that it was seeking partner businesses with which to manufacture vehicles.

In addition, one of Google’s directors is former Ford chief Alan Mulally.

When asked for a comment, Ford said only that it ‘works with a lot of technology companies.’
