From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The all-new Range Rover Sport has broken cover… sort of. Today Land Rover released a very blurry image of the car prior to its official launch at the New York Auto Show on 26 March.

The third model of the new Range Rover family launched in two years, the firm claims it will be the fastest, most responsive and most agile Range Rover to date. It follows the award-winning Range Rover Evoque in 2011 and all-new Ranger Rover in 2012.

The new Sport is based on the same all-aluminium platform as the new Range Rover and will be built along the flagship model at the firm’s new “Premium Lightweight Architecture” production line in Solihull, West Midlands.

John Edwards, Land Rover Global Brand Director, said: “The all-new Range Rover Sport takes the model to another level. It is Land Rover’s most dynamic vehicle yet and showcases the best of British design, engineering and technological innovation.”

We’ll have to take Edwards’ word on that for now, but it will at least feel at home in New York. More Sports are sold to in New York than any other area in the world. And if New Yorkers are involved, expect a glitzy launch when it is driven through Manhattan a day before the opening of the New York Auto Show.

Prices are expected to start at around £55,000 when it goes on sale later this year.
