Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The seven-passenger Infiniti JX crossover is a three-row model set to go on sale in the US in spring 2012, becoming another contender in the country's fastest-growing luxury vehicle segment.
Infiniti describes the model's new shape as that of a greenhouse, promising 'class-leading roominess' and an innovative access method to the rear row.
Instead of folding, the access seat tilts slightly and slides forward, meaning parents can leave a child seat latched to the second row while getting in and out of the third row.
Details on the engine weren't provided, although Infiniti confirmed that the model will be offered with a V6 engine powering an all-wheel or front-wheel drive, and additional information will be released at the Los Angeles Auto Show this November.
Infiniti wasn't the only brand in action at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, one of the world's most famous classic car competitions which is rapidly becoming a place for brands to showcase new models alongside the old.
Lexus also unveiled a new model, its 2013 GS 350 sedan, a mid-size luxury model which will be launched in sport and hybrid configuration in early 2012 by the Toyota-owned firm.
The Concours d'Elegance, part of Monterey Automotive Week, runs through August 21 in Monterey, California.
