From Virginia to Vrginia Water, the Chevrolet Camaro is making a transatlantic journey to take on the Ford Mustang

Your support makes all the difference.At first glance this may not look like a remotely sensible plan. Buy a Chevrolet Camaro, fresh from the States, with left-hand drive, a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine and a price tag several thousand north of the right-hooker Ford Mustang.
However, there are some options you might consider looking at. Like the full-house V8 version. Add in a coupe version, add in some stripes, and maybe you have something worth having, particularly as it will remain a rare sight on UK roads.
However, prices remain about £3500 to £4000 more than the comparable Mustang, so you’re paying for exclusivity. You could get a Camaro for £31,755, which would get you the 2.0-litre turbo engine, which only comes with auto transmission. Sat nav is extra, although it’s standard on the V8 version.
The V8 starts at £37,020 but then you can add £1460 for the eight-speed automatic transmission, the same again for magnetic ride suspension, and £400-550 for those all-important stripes. You can add another £4000 if you want either version as a convertible.
We mentioned these will remain rarer than the Ford Mustang, and that’s borne out by the dealer network. There is one dealer, based in Virginia Water. They shouldn’t be rushed off their feet as they’re only getting 15 coupes and three convertibles to sell for the rest of 2016. That’s 18 cars. Rare.
