Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Japanese automaker, which will be one of the first to arrive on the global market with a production electric vehicle when the LEAF goes on sale later this year, says that the vehicle is an insight into how it may expand its portfolio of EVs in the future.
Named Townpod, the concept is aimed at a "future generation of home-based, innovative entrepreneurs who are tech savvy."
Nissan says that the concept combines eye-catching design with a spacious and practical interior, and although it's not much, the automaker has released an image of one of the vehicle's futuristic lights to prove the point.
Given Nissan's advanced market lead with electric vehicles, the Townpod is likely to draw considerable attention at the show - the Nissan LEAF will be on show next to it ahead of the start of European deliveries earlier next year.
The automaker will also display the new Nissan Micra and the Nissan Juke, along with the debut of significant upgrades to the firm's SUV, the Nissan X-TRAIL.
The Townpod will join other electric vehicle concepts from Mercedes-Benz, which is reported to be readying a debut of a limited-edition electric A-Class and Kia, which will debut its Pop city car.
