The Range Rover was always the most luxurious 4x4 - until it wasn’t. The Bentley Bentayga showed that there was a willing and wealthy market up above even the Range Rover’s exalted price point. So Range Rover responded by launching the SVAutobiography.
Now we have the delightful prospect of two SUVs going head to head, where each costs over £150,000. Will it make a difference that the Bentayga was designed for this rarified atmosphere from the start, with its 6.0-litre W12 engine and acres of class? Or can the Range Rover, with its supercharged V8, raise its game any higher without any strain?
