Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The 5th Alternative Energy Rally pits the world's greenest vehicles against each other in a four-day event, finishing in the port of Monaco April 3.

The season gets underway in Melbourne this year, after the cancellation of Bahrain's opener earlier in the month. This year will see the reintroduction of Pirelli as a tire supplier (potentially changing pit stop strategy) and the use of the Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) boosters, bringing hybrid power to several teams' cars for the first time.

8th Top Marques Monaco
April 14-17
Monte Carlo, Monaco
With the strapline "see it, drive it, buy it!", this is an auto show unashmedly geared to the superwealthy, who converge upon the principality for the four-day forum of top-end cars and - bizarrely - watches. Over €100 million worth of cars sold last year, and with the auto market recovery well underway, that figure may rise with the eighth edition.
