Your support makes all the difference.A woman who had no idea that she was pregnant gave birth in a supermarket and decided to honour the unconventional grand entrance in a very fitting way.
Ashleigh Miller-Cross, from Canada, gave birth to her first child, Mia, in August 2016 and didn’t know that she was expecting another until she did her weekly shop the following April.
As she walked through the aisles Atlantic Superstore, the mum started to feel an intense pain so proceeded to make her way to the toilets.
The assistant manager, Malcolm Comeau, heard screaming coming from the lavatories and quickly went to help.
“I opened the door and Ashleigh was there and the baby was halfway out,” he told CBC news.
“She just screamed at me, ‘I’m having a baby!’ and I automatically grabbed my phone and dialled 911’.”
Thankfully, the store had a medical facility and Miller-Cross was swiftly attended to by a doctor.
Moments later, she gave birth to her son, Ezra.
“I really had no idea [I was pregnant],” the mum said.
“I presumed I hadn’t lost any weight because I only had Mia 10 months ago. I didn’t grow any extra. I was just the same size. I didn’t have any cravings.”
To mark the surprise delivery, Miller-Cross enlisted the help of local photographer Jen Matchett of Branches Photography to create an adorable newborn photoshoot.
Here, baby Ezra smiled as he was swaddled in one of the store's shopping baskets alongside a bundle of fresh produce.
“I want to thank everybody who has offered support and everyone who was giving us things,” the proud mum added.
