Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. As part of the year-long "Inventing America" season, the Minnesota Orchestra performs at the Barbican on Wednesday 18 February. Eugene Ormandy, Antal Dorati and Sir Neville Mariner have all held the post of music director with the orchestra, but this year witnesses its first European tour. The orchestra's programme will include Samuel Barber's lyrical first symphony, Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante for violin and viola in E flat, Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra and the UK premier of Pulitzer Prize-winner Dominick Argento's Reverie.
In conjunction with The Barbican, The Independent is able to offer one of its readers a pair of tickets for the Barbican performance, and a meal for two at Searcey's Restaurant in the Barbican before or after the performance. To enter the draw for this prize, put your answer to the following question on a postcard with your name and a daytime contact number: what is the state capital of Minnesota? Please send postcards to Indy/Minnesota Orchestra Offer, The Independent, 1 Canada Square, Canary Wharf, London E14 5DL by Thursday 12 February.
