Meghan Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, may have watched her daughter marry the love of her life and make history as she married into the royal family, but there was another moment from the weekend that the duchess’s mum will cherish forever.

After arriving in the UK ahead of the wedding to meet her daughter’s future in-laws, Ragland met a number of members of the royal family - including the Queen.

Of the special moment, a source told US Weekly: “Doria is saying the biggest highlight of the wedding, of course after watching her daughter say ‘I do’ to the man she loves, was meeting the Queen.

“It would have been extremely intimidating for anyone, but Meghan and Harry really did a marvellous job of preparing her with what to expect.”

To make sure his future mother-in-law felt as comfortable as possible ahead of the meeting Harry told Doria “numerous stories about the Queen as a grandmother and what she means to him,” according to the source.

When Meghan’s mum did finally meet the 92-year-old monarch, over tea at Windsor Castle with Meghan and Harry a day before the nuptials, it clearly went well.

Ragland and Queen Elizabeth II even wore complementing shades of green on the day of the wedding, with Meghan’s mum in a Wedgewood green wool dress by Oscar de la Renta and the Queen in a lime green dress by Stuart Parvin.

And the 62-year-old yoga instructor also appeared to form relationships with other members of the royal family, including Prince Charles and Camilla, who walked Ragland out of the church after the ceremony arm-in-arm.

Apart from the moving photos of the two families coming together, Meghan’s mum made viewers emotional on her own as she watched proudly from her seat in St George’s Chapel as her daughter said: “I do.”

As the only member of Meghan’s family to attend the royal wedding, it was a special week for Ragland, full of moments she will remember forever.
