One of the greatest Mean Girls events ever is about to land in the UK
The festival launches this summer and yes, you can sit with us
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. If you’re still wondering whether butter is a carb or have found yourself personally victimised by Regina George, then prepare for some much-needed Mean Girls therapy.
To celebrate the film’s 15th anniversary, Paramount Network UK and The Luna Cinema are teaming up to host the ultimate Mean Girls-inspired event for those with a penchant for quoting the 2004 teen drama, or simply have a love of wearing pink on Wednesdays.
From 12 to 16 June, the Seymour Leisure Centre in Marylebone, London will be transformed into North Shore High School and give audiences a chance to step into the world of Cady and her classmates.
At the event, titled Mean Girls: The Movie And More, freshmen and JV Jocks alike will have the chance to take part in Mean Girls-inspired photo opportunities, as well as buy food and drinks inspired by the Plastics.
After a screening of the film – during which quoting out loud is not only welcomed but encouraged – fans will also have the opportunity to attend their very own Spring Fling.
For Brits who have been forced to contend with prom-inspired leavers’s balls for years, this is the perfect opportunity to show off their well-practiced Prom Queen wave and don a tiara.
Ticket-holders will also receive a Mean Girls-inspired goodie bag – which we can only hope will contain a lifetime's supply of Kalteen bars – and are encouraged to don their best pink attire or their favourite character's outfit for the occasion.
A description advertising the event on Facebook reads: “Calling all Freshmen, ROTC Guys, Preps, JV Jocks, Asian Nerds, Cool Asians, Varsity Jocks, Unfriendly Black Hotties, Girls Who Eat Their Feelings, Girls Who Don't Eat Anything, Desperate Wannabes, Burnouts and Sexually Active Band Geeks!
“Round up your clique and get ready to celebrate the ultimate 00s movie in style.”
The event will start at 6.30pm and 11pm with tickets priced at £25.
The Mean Girls-inspired event comes weeks after it was announced that FriendsFest would be returning to the UK to celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary.
Events will take place between July and September across the UK in London, Bristol, Manchester and Milton Keynes.
Tickets to Mean Girls: The Movie And More are available to buy here.
