Martha Stewart has offered her criticism of Chelsea Handler’s pool selfie after the comedian tried to replicate a photo the lifestyle guru shared earlier this week.

On Tuesday, Stewart, 78, posted a photo of herself in her pool at her home in East Hamptons, New York, on Instagram.

“My pool in East Hampton is the place to be on a 89F day!” Stewart captioned the photo, in which she can be seen wearing pink lipgloss and pouting slightly at the camera. “When I built the pool 30 years ago it was designed to be as chlorine free as possible, with a natural concrete finish-no paint- and it fit in a long narrow space between the house and the property line.

“I made it extra deep for diving and with no protruding steps so we could really race the length without worrying about obstacles. After all these years, it is a fun place to swim!!!”

The photo was met with an outpouring of support from Stewart’s fans who praised the 78-year-old’s youthful appearance.

Among those complimenting Stewart was Handler, who shared her own version of the pool selfie to Instagram on Wednesday with the caption: “I’m here to take Martha Stewart’s swimming lesson.

“If I look this good at 78 I better still have a pool to show myself off in.”

The 45-year-old’s selfie prompted a response from Stewart, who both applauded Handler's attempt and critiqued it.

“Dear Chelsea, I’m so happy that you like my post well enough to emulate it,” Stewart replied in the comments, according to a screenshot shared by CommentsByCelebs. “I do think my pool is a little bit prettier than yours and that my facial expression is a little bit more relaxed.

“Nevertheless you are a beautiful girl and F**KING too young to be emulating me. Continue with your comedy, your humour, and your amazing ability to gather around you political liberals. We need it! Love Martha."

While Stewart preferred her version of the selfie, others applauded Handler for her attempt.

“You nailed it,” one person commented, while another wrote: “This is gold.”

There were some fans that agreed with Stewart, however, with one person writing: “I love you Chelsea, but Martha did it better.”
