Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Being picky is common when it comes to dating.
But thanks to the advent of dating apps, we’ve become more discerning than ever before, analysing the minutiae of a person’s profile and immediately dismissing those who don’t meet even our most nuanced requirements.
Among the sea of selfies and brazen 6’2 claims, there's another to be picky, as most dating profiles give you the option to state your profession, which can be a helpful distinguishing factor when looking for love online.
Evidently, some jobs really are sexier than others, as Tinder has revealed a definitive list of the most right-swiped jobs on its platform.
Interestingly, the number one spots vary depending on whereabouts you are in the world.
In the UK, the most popular job for women is business development manager.
However, the most right-swiped job for British men was identified as firefighter, feeding into one of the oldest clichés in the book; lifeguard also ranks at number five in the list.
For women, the second most popular occupation is dancer, followed by cabin crew, nurse and marketing manager.
Comparatively, the men’s list features more high-earning roles than the women’s, with finance director and pilot all included in the top 10.
In the US, the most right-swiped job for women is registered nurse, whereas for men it’s interior designer - which ranks in second place in the UK list.
There are some crossovers between both lists, with cabin crew, teacher and bartender featuring in both the UK and US lists for women.
Meanwhile, pilot and teacher appear in both lists for men.
However, in a slightly concerning addition which alludes to a preference for dating younger people, college/grad student ranks as the fourth most right-swiped job for women in the US.
For American men, it is the ninth most right-swiped job.
