Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

It’s an anxious feeling that may be all too familiar to those in relationships - that hunch that something just isn't right.

Whether your partner seems distant, their behaviours have suddenly changed or things feel just don’t feel the same as they used to, it’s easy to quickly jump to conclusions.

However, users on Quora have highlighted some sure signs that your relationship may be about to end.

They're married

Karen Tiede wrote that if you’ve started a relationship with someone who is already married, your relationship may be rockier than most. “One partner being married to someone else is usually a pretty bad sign.”

Insecurity

While Faisal Khan added that insecurity could play a part in the ending of a relationship, and especially the “constant arguments" over insecurity.

What the experts say

Finally Michael DeBusk cited Dr John Gottman, a relationship therapist, explaining his four signs that a relationship is doomed to fail. They are criticism, defensiveness, stonewalling and contempt. Mr DeBusk added that “of these, he [Dr Gottman] says, the last one is especially heinous.”
