Sophie Turner has spoken about her relationship with Joe Jonas, saying she feels as though she is “punching way above her league”.

During an interview with Elle UK magazine, the Game of Thrones star opened up about meeting Jonas for the first time and what it is like to be married.

The actor said that when she first met the musician, she expected him to “show up with security and everything” and assumed he would “be such a d***”.

“The best thing was that he didn’t bring security,” the 24-year-old said. “He brought a friend and they drank just as hard as the rest of us.”

Turner recalled how after spending a couple of minutes on the dance floor, she and Jonas “found a space in the far corner” and “talked for hours”.

The Dark Phoenix actor, who is reportedly pregnant, explained that she has always regarded Jonas very highly throughout their four-year relationship.

“With Joe, I always felt like I was the one who was punching, like, way above my league. And I still feel like that,” Turner said.

“He’s so handsome, talented, funny, charismatic. I’m really lucky to be with him and have someone like him want to be around me and spend time with me.”

In May 2019, Turner and Jonas were married in a surprise Las Vegas ceremony, after announcing their engagement in October 2017.

A month later, the celebrity couple marked their union with a second wedding ceremony in France.

Turner told Elle she feels more secure in her relationship with Jonas since tying the knot.

“I feel as though the only thing that’s changed for me is having this incredible sense of security,” she stated.

“Just the word ‘husband’ and the word ‘wife’ – they solidify the relationship. I love being married. I think it’s wonderful.”

Turner added that while she is sure she and Jonas will experience “hiccups”, in the present moment “the security and the safety are everything”.

In February, multiple reports stated that Turner and Jonas are expecting their first child together.
