Hailey Baldwin has opened up about her relationship with Justin Bieber, describing being married at such a young age as "scary".

The 22-year-old model married the 24-year-old singer in a private civil ceremony in New York in September 2018, almost a decade after first being introduced by Baldwin's father, actor Stephen Baldwin.

While the pair have appeared in high spirits since their nuptials, being featured together on the widely-discussed cover of the March issue of US Vogue, Baldwin has admitted that acclimatising to married life has been a challenge at times.

"It's definitely scary to be this young and be married, it's a scary thing," she said while talking on Zaza World Radio on Apple Music alongside fellow model and friend Kendall Jenner.

"But it's also the person that I've literally been in love with for so many years, so that's the best part about it. I feel like he's my best friend and we just get to do life together forever now."

Baldwin explained that the "forever aspect" of being married isn't something that she had considered until she and Bieber tied the knot.

This realisation had an especially huge impact on her following their wedding ceremony, due to the fact she'd never been in a serious relationship before.

"I've always been so independent, so for me, trying to cohabitate with someone and learn how to do life with another person, that directly has just been interesting. It's so different," the model stated.

"That's why I say it's scary, because I didn't have any of that experience before. So I went from being a baby, not having a lot of experience, to being married."

Baldwin and Bieber recently revealed that they chose to abstain from sex before marriage.

In his first interview in two years, Bieber explained that the couple made the joint decision as "sex can cause a lot of pain".

"Sometimes people have sex because they don’t feel good enough. Because they lack self-worth. Women do that, and guys do that," the singer told US Vogue.
