A couple has tied the knot at Glastonbury two years after becoming engaged at the music festival.

Sarah Adey and Jack Watney first met a decade ago, while both attending Plymouth University.

In 2011, they attended Glastonbury together for the first time, and have been every consecutive year since.

As the festival became such a significant fixture in their relationship, in 2017 Mr Watney decided to propose to Ms Adey at a spot on the campsite close to Pennard Hill.

This morning, the couple made the ultimate festivalgoer's declaration of love by saying their "I do's" beside the Croissant Neuf bandstand.

The most difficult aspect of their wedding plans was ensuring that all of their friends and family were able to obtain Glastonbury tickets.

"That was the hardest part of the whole thing, to be honest," said Mr Watney.

"We managed to get quite a few tickets during the first sale in October, including all four of my best men – but none of Sarah's bridesmaids got them that time around.

"We had to wait six months for the next ticket sale in April to see if her bridesmaids could get them then." The couple were successful when attempting to purchase more tickets the second time around.

When Mr Watney proposed to Ms Adey in 2017, he chose a spot near Pennard Hill which he used to always walk up to when he attended Glastonbury every year.

"Doing this became a sort of ritual for me and my family, and I did that with Sarah when she came to the festival too," the teacher said.

"We would do it in the day and in the night. The view is pretty spectacular."

Mr Watney kept his plans for the proposal secret from the friends with whom he and Ms Adey were attending the festival.

When he asked his friends to take some photographs of him and Ms Adey on the top of the hill, that's when he then went down on one knee.

Following their engagement, Ms Adey and Mr Watney got in touch with those in charge of the Croissant Neuf bandstand, a stage which hosts displays, chats and workshops about environmental issues.

The couple were given permission to hold their nuptials at their chosen site.

"We wanted to make it special for all our friends and family," said Ms Adey.

"There was a massive crowd too. It was an unforgettable experience."
