Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham have announced their separation just over four months after winning Love Island 2018.

After a whirlwind six-month relationship, Dyer revealed the news in a statement that she shared on her Instagram story.

“Jack and I have sadly decided to part ways,” she wrote.

“It’s been an incredible six months, and we will always have a place in our hearts for each other, but sadly we’ve come to the realisation that it’s not meant to be long term.

“We both plan to stay friends. I hope you’ll all understand.”

Dyer and Fincham were coupled up on the first day of Love Island when it aired over summer, remaining together for the rest of the reality dating programme.

Having been favourites to win the series throughout the show, many have expressed their disappointment over the news that they’re no longer together.

“Jack and Dani splitting up just proves that no matter how happy people look on social media, no one knows what’s really going on behind closed doors. Gutted for them,” one person wrote.

“Well if Jack and Dani have split then there’s no hope for any of us,” another person tweeted.

The news of their split comes not long after the couple started living with each other.

They also have a dog together and recently announced that they'd be taking part in a reality show focusing on their relationship that would be aired on ITVBe.

On Thursday 6 December, Dyer revealed that she’s going to be releasing an autobiography in April called What Would Dani Do?.

In the book, Dyer will open up about her life before and after Love Island, including details about her relationship with Fincham.

In August, Fincham appeared on Good Morning Britain to talk about the insecurities that he had about his body while in the Love Island villa.

He explained how he'd felt unsure about whether he had enough confidence to take part in the show.

"I was so body conscious going in there at the start, and then as it went on I was being more free with my body," he said.

Of the couples who reached the final of Love Island 2018, only two out of four are still together.

In September, Laura Anderson and Paul Knops revealed that they had broken up.

The other finalists, which include couples Megan Barton-Hanson and Wes Anderson, and Kaz Crossley and Josh Denzel, are still together.

Dyer and Fincham are due to co-host the 2019 National Television Awards, which is taking place on 22 January 2019.
