Love Island star Theo Campbell has revealed he has lost vision in his right eye after an incident involving a champagne cork.

The 28-year-old reality star, who shared the news on Instagram, was vacationing in Ibiza when the accident took place.

According to Campbell, who thanked fans for the messages of support, despite undergoing two surgeries, doctors were unable to restore his vision because his eye “got split in half” after a “really unfortunate accident”.

“Who would have thought a champagne cork would be the end of me…” he captioned an Instagram photo of himself with an eyepatch. “But I still have one eye left, looking at the bright side of things.”

The star also thanked his girlfriend Kaz Crossley for flying out to be with him while he recovers, before asking his more than 260,000 Instagram followers for recommendations on where to find "cool eye patches".

Campbell, who was a contestant on the 2017 series of the show, concluded the post with the hashtags #CaptainHook #Thor and #FettyWap.

On Crossley’s Instagram, she shared photos of Campbell recovering in his hospital bed and warned people of the dangers of partying.

Writing that it has been a “hard 24 hours” because of language barriers, Crossley wrote: “I’ve stayed in his room overnight and just wanna take him home. He’s so brave and positive, hopefully it will get better, thanks for your kind messages.

“I hope this will make people aware of the dangers at these parties and to be more careful.”

Campbell has received an outpouring of well-wishes since sharing the news of his accident.
