Lady Gaga has blamed an incorrect inking of a new tattoo on “too many tequilas”.

On Valentine’s Day, the singer revealed two new additions to her expansive collection of tattoos, both of which pay tribute to her passion for music.

One of the tattoos, which her manager Bobby Campbell also had inked, spells out the letters G A G A on her arm in musical notes.

However, rather than there being five horizontal lines on the musical stave, there were only four.

A stave, known as a staff in the US, is the set of five lines on which musical notes are placed.

After posting a photo of the tattoo on Instagram, which has since been deleted, fans were quick to point out the mistake to the Oscar-nominated actor.

“What a drunk musical crisis,” Gaga wrote in response to one of the comments.

“I studied music theory... that’s what happens when u drink and tattoo.”

The singer promptly had a fifth line added to the tattoo, and shared a picture of the updated design with her 33 million Instagram followers.

“Musical crisis averted,” Gaga wrote in the caption.

“Too many tequilas forgot the fifth staff line poor thing. Here’s the real deal.”

Gaga’s tattoo error comes a couple of weeks after Ariana Grande’s own tattoo mishap.

The “God is a Woman” singer inked the phrase “7 Rings“ on her palm in Japanese in celebration of her new song.

However, she later discovered that the tattoo translated to mean “shichirin”, which is a small, charcoal grill.

The second new tattoo that Gaga revealed on Valentine’s Day pays homage to her character Ally in the 2018 romantic drama A Star Is Born.

In the film, Ally delivers a performance of “La Vie en Rose” at a bar on the night that she first meets Bradley Cooper’s character Jackson Maine.

Taking inspiration from this pivotal scene, Gaga had a large rose design inked on her back alongside the title of the song.

“A tattoo toast to ‘la vie en rose’ by the beautiful @winterstone my spinal cord is now a rose,” the singer wrote on Instagram.

At the 2019 Grammys, Gaga was presented with the award for Best Duo/Group Performance for her collaboration with Cooper on the song “Shallow” in A Star Is Born.

In her speech, the musician expressed her pride for playing a role in a film that addresses mental health issues.

“And a lot of artists deal with that and we’ve got to take care of each other. So if you see somebody that’s hurting, don’t look away,” she said.
