From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Kylie Jenner may not be the highest-paid celebrity of 2019, but she does earn the most when it comes to Instagram posts, according to a new report.

To compile the list of highest-paid influencers, Hopper HQ, an Instagram scheduling tool, analyses internal data, agency rate cards and public information, as well as average engagement, post frequency and follower count.

It said the youngest of the Jenner/Kardashian family makes $1.2m (£960,000) for a single post - making her the highest-paid Instagram influencer of 2019.

The youngest-ever self-made billionaire, according to Forbes, also topped the list last year, when she was reportedly charging $1m per post she shared with her 141m followers.

Ariana Grande, who has 159m Instagram followers, is second on this year’s list, with each of her sponsored posts bringing in an estimated $966,000 (£773,340).

When it comes to athletes, no one has more influencer power than Cristiano Ronaldo, the most-followed person on Instagram with 176m followers.

According to Hopper HQ, the football player is third on the overall list and makes an estimated $975,000 (£780,487) per sponsored post.

Kim Kardashian is not far behind her younger sister, with an income of $910,000 (£728,455) per Instagram post, while Kendal Jenner and Khloe Kardashian came in at 13th and 14th on the list, respectively.

Selena Gomez, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Beyonce Knowles and Taylor Swift are also in the top 10.

When it comes to beauty influencers, makeup artist and founder of makeup line Huda Beauty, Huda Kattan, tops the list with an average estimated income of $91,300 (£73,085) per sponsored post, with model Bella Hadid the highest-paid influencer in the fashion category with a $86,300 (£69,083) cost-per-post.

The annual list also includes the highest-paid influencers in other categories, including fitness, food, lifestyle, and travel.

Even for those with less than 1m followers Instagram can be a lucrative business, as beauty blogger Mihladi Ndamase reportedly makes $1,800 (£1,440) per post.
