Kim Kardashian has spoken candidly about the positive impact her relationship with ex-husband Kanye West had on her self-confidence.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star reflected on the lessons instilled by West during an appearance on the We Are Supported By... podcast with hosts Kristen Bell and Monica Padman, where she revealed that the rapper taught her to be herself.

“I got to a point, and maybe [it was] being in a relationship with Kanye for a decade, someone that absolutely didn’t care about likeability factor or what any of perception of him was as long as he was true to himself, that taught me so much in the best way of just being me and living in the moment,” the 40-year-old said.

According to Kardashian, who acknowledged that she used to be a “people-pleaser,” West also taught her that she doesn’t need to “please” everyone, as the most important thing is that she is being true to herself and living her life the way she wants to.

“As long as I’m myself and as long as I’m doing it the way that I want to, like, you have one life and you’re living it for you,” the Skims founder continued. “That taught me to just be more confident in myself and truly not care as much about what other people thought.”

While Kardashian credits her former husband of nearly seven years with the life lesson, as West feels “that way so genuinely to [his] core,” she also noted that her confidence also likely came from getting older, becoming a mother and her life experiences.

Kardashian and West, who share four children together, North, eight, Saint, five, Chicago, three, and Psalm, two, married in May 2014.

The KKW Beauty mogul filed for divorce from the rapper in February, however, she has continued to publicly support her husband of nearly seven years.

Most recently, Kardashian and the couple’s children were seen attending listening parties for West’s new album Donda.
