Joe Wicks has revealed his wife will be leading his live PE lessons as he recovers from surgery on his hand.

On Saturday Wicks went under the knife to remove wires in his hand, which were put there earlier this year when he first had an operation on his injured hand after falling off a bike.

The fitness entrepreneur, also known as The Body Coach, revealed he was first admitted to hospital on Friday 1 May after telling his Instagram followers his hand was “throbbing” with pain.

Following the successful surgery, Wicks shared a lengthy post in which he praised his wife, Rosie, for her continued support and explained that she would be taking over the sessions so he can fully recover.

“I've had to call in a supply teacher for Monday's #pewithjoe. It's my beautiful wife Rosie,” Wicks wrote alongside a photo of the couple on their wedding day.

“She's kindly agreed to come on the live stream with me to demonstrate the moves as I really need to let my hand rest for a few days now I've had the wires removed.”

He continued: “It's totally out of her comfort zone so I've got so much love and respect for her right now. She's always there for me when I need her the most and she knows how much it means to me that I don't let anyone down with these daily workouts.”

In a separate Instagram story, Wicks explained that he will still be leading the PE classes and playfully referred to his wife as the “hottest substitute teacher ever!”

The couple first started dating in 2016 and married in June last year.

The 33-year-old fitness guru later shared a series of updates after undergoing the second operation on his wrist, showing followers his bandaged hand which he joked look liked a “golf ball”.

“Surgery complete. Wires all out. Infection cleaned up,” Wicks wrote. “They gave me a general anaesthetic which was awesome so didn't feel a thing and was sparko.”

Last month, Wicks reassured his followers that his online PE classes would continue despite his injury.

During an appearance on The Andrew Marr Show, Wicks spoke about the cast on his arm and said: “It hasn’t stopped me.

“I’ve been doing one-armed burpees, I’ve been doing squats, lunges, all sorts.”

So far, Wicks' videos have helped to raise more than £200,000 for NHS Charities Together.
