Joe Wicks has revealed that his virtual PE lessons will continue on a reduced schedule now that some schools are reopening in the UK.

The fitness entrepreneur launched his hugely popular online workout sessions at the start of lockdown to ensure children could stay active despite not being in school.

However, now that lockdown restrictions are easing and some children are returning to school, Wicks explained that this is the last week that he will host the workouts every day.

“Hello everyone! Just a little update. It’s NOT OVER, but this is the last full week of PE with Joe,” Wicks wrote in an Instagram captions alongside a photo of himself dressed as the character Fred Flintstone.

The fitness trainer continued: “I’ve loved every minute of it. All 13 weeks of it. It’s been so much fun and I’ve laughed so much.

“I’ve been on a mission to engage children in fitness for four years now and have travelled all over the UK visiting schools.

“I feel very proud that I’ve been able to bring so many people together during lockdown.”

Wicks added that his workout videos have now had almost 70 million views worldwide, which he described as “truly mind-blowing”.

“As of next week I’ll be running a reduced time table of three days per week,” he added.

“I’m going to be doing LIVE workouts Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 9am for everyone.

“Thank you for your support on #pewithjoe and for all your messages of thanks and gratitude. It’s been an incredible journey! Let’s keep going! Lots of love Joe.”

The news comes after Wicks had to take some time out from hosting the live workouts due to a hand injury.

Keen not to let his audience down, the trainer recruited his wife, Rosie Wicks, to take over for a short period of time.
