Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Just when you thought you’d seen it all in the Advent calendar world, along came the Jeremy Corbyn countdown to Christmas.

Because this is 2017 and apparently chocolate isn’t enough, you can now get Greggs, gin, sock and politician-themed Advent calendars.

The Jezza-themed calendar features a portrait of the Labour leader looking slightly unsure, giving a tentative thumbs-up, dressed in a Father Christmas outfit, with an oversized head.

And who wouldn’t want to wake up to that every morning of Advent?

It’s on sale for £19.95 from Corbyn Corner Shop which is a lot more than the average calendar, but the website claims that it contains “luxury chocolate.”

10 per cent of profits will go to Save the Children though.

There’s even a maze on the back to “help Jeremy get to Number 10.”

Sadly however, it may end up being a calendar for the few rather than the many, as it’s only available in a limited run of 250.

And if you truly want to have a Jerry Christmas, this isn’t the only option available to you.

How about a Jeremy Corbyn Christmas jumper? Or maybe a phone case for your nearest and dearest? Or perhaps a mug from which to sip your mulled wine?

Might as well get merry with Jerry.
