The singer, who is currently on her It's My Party Tour, discussed her love life in a behind-the-scenes video uploaded to YouTube on Thursday.
According to Lopez, who is currently engaged to former baseball player Alex Rodriguez, she wants her upcoming wedding to be big and in a church.
The 49-year-old then explained why her marriage to Rodriguez will be different from her previous ones.
Lopez, who was married to Ojani Noa from 1997-1998, Cris Judd from 2001-2003 and Marc Anthony from 2004-20014, said: “I’ve been married three times: once was nine months and once was 11 months, so I don’t really count those.
“I was married to Marc for 10 years, with the kids. I was very young the first two times I tried to get married,” she said, before adding: "I’m saying 'tried' to get married.”
According to the singer, her first two marriages didn’t last because she’d only got married so she wouldn’t be lonely while juggling her career.
“It seems like in this life you’re always surrounded by people so you’re never lonely but it’s very lonely,” she said. “So you always want somebody with you. So I felt like if I got married then I would always have somebody but that’s not how life works. That’s not how it goes, a bad reason to get married. Not the right one, the wrong one.
“The right one is when you find somebody who makes you better.”
As for when the singer, who became engaged in March, will tie the knot again, she said her wedding to Rodriguez will likely happen next year.
